This Camille Paglia quote comes from her 1992 essay collection Sex, Art, and American Culture: Essays (Vintage Books edition, p. 24). We were influenced heavily by the work of Camille Paglia when creating the songs for BATE FUEL and KNEEL is a centerpiece track that sums up our beliefs about men and the role of gay men and masculinity. That gay men do not submit to women and thus prevent a completely authoritarian matriarchal society from forming. While, to feminists, it might seem a good idea for women to run everything, but no one gender should rule another.
Gay men exist outside of society to a degree and their sexuality, relentless as it is, honors the gods in various ways. In many ways, gay men are the shamans of their time and fill many roles once provided by ancient medicine men. Shamans used to help men become men and teach them the ways of manhood and sexual freedom. The mentorship roles that sexually free men once held might be vacant, now. But it doesn’t mean they are not needed.
Whatever your faith and belief, men have been having sex with men ever since dicks could ejaculate. What is different in modern times is gay being seperated from straight. Do enough inner work and sexual integration and a man might come to see being exclusively heterosexual as the historic anomaly. As feminism encroaches upon almost everything in our society from the products we buy, to the movies we see, the needs of men are falling by the wayside. Masculinity has been downplayed and villainized, even though it is vital for a functioning society. Would there even be masculinity if it were not for gay men?
Gay men prove that social conditioning doesn’t work on everyone. And his sexuality is proof of the divine. And any time a man has sex with another man, he is, in some way, having sex with all men. A man already knows a man. Is anonymous sex between men, truly anonymous.
